Failing memory Della's PC was beginning to have senior moments. Sometimes it worked fine (if a little tardily), sometimes it refused to start up at all, going into an interminable loop of starting and restarting. Diagnosis showed a failing memory module which was replaced, solving the problem. If only we could do that for people...

No More Space Peter used his home PC for storing MP3s, photos from his digital camera and movies from his new video recorder. And then the computer started saying 'No!' Pete had run out of hard disk space to store his information. We installed a larger disk with all the contents of his orginal intact, including his operating system. Result? We're waiting for the invitation to the Oscars.

Broadband - not... We all know that broadband speeds rarely match the advertising hype, but when you can't connect at all... No email, no web, no chat. When Ellen was in that situation we found that her router had failed (the little box that broadband providers give you). We replaced that, reconfigured her connection to work faster than before and for all we know she's now somewhere in The Matrix.

The Invisible Laptop The idea of a home network is that all the connected computers can see each other and share information and internet connections. But what do you do when one of them drops off the radar? For Alex we improved the range of his network so that he could sit in the garden and still surf to his heart's content. Shame about the rain.

Keeping an eye on the kids No-one wants to be a spy, but you want to make sure that your kids are safe when they're online. We can advise on the best parental controls, including programs that will let you know exactly what they look at or say to their virtual buddies.
